Some plants grow better together: the garden has its own friendships waiting to be discovered

Companion planting is one of the simplest ways to make your garden thrive. 🌱 It’s the practice of growing certain plants side by side so they can help each other — whether by boosting growth, deterring pests, or improving flavor. For beginners, it’s like learning which plants are best friends in the garden.

✨ Tomatoes + Basil
This classic duo isn’t just delicious in pasta — basil helps repel pests like aphids and whiteflies, while tomatoes provide shade that basil loves. Together, they grow stronger and tastier.

✨ Carrots + Onions
Carrots attract pests like carrot flies, but onions act as a natural deterrent. Planting them together keeps both crops healthier.

✨ Corn + Beans + Squash (Three Sisters)
An ancient planting method: corn provides a natural trellis for beans, beans fix nitrogen in the soil, and squash spreads along the ground to block weeds. It’s teamwork at its finest.

✨ Marigolds + Leafy Greens
Marigolds are more than pretty flowers — they repel nematodes and pests, protecting lettuce, spinach, and pechay. Plus, they add cheerful color to your garden.

✨ Chili Peppers + Herbs
Herbs like oregano and parsley help repel insects, while chili peppers thrive with their protective company.

🌿 Tips for Beginners:
- Start small: pair 2–3 plants in one pot or bed.
- Mix flowers with vegetables for natural pest control.
- Avoid planting “enemies” together (like onions near beans, which can stunt growth).
- Observe — your garden will show you which friendships work best.

Companion planting is more than strategy; it’s a reminder that growth is easier when we support each other. 🌱✨ Just like in life, the right partnerships bring out the best in us.

So if you’re starting your garden journey, don’t plant alone — let your plants grow with friends.
