DIATOMACEOUS EARTH POWDER

Non-toxic and Natural

Contains 250 - 300g

What is Diatomaceous Earth (DE)?

Diatomaceous Earth is a natural substance made of fossilized plants and it usually occurs as a mineral compound called diatomite. It is mined and ground to make a powder that looks and feels like talcum powder. Diatomaceous earth is often used as a non-toxic chemical-free method for getting rid of pests, not only in the garden but also at home. It is absolutely safe to use and is harmless to humans and pets.

How it works?

Diatomaceous earth is lethal to most tiny insects like aphids, thrips, ants, mites, bed bugs, snails, slugs and even cockroaches. Its microscopic sharp edges cut through the protective covering of insects and eventually dries them up. Unlike chemical pesticides, diatomaceous earth does not result in the build up of resistance for the insects that are repeatedly exposed to it. This makes it an ideal alternative to using chemical pesticides.

Why choose FOOD GRADE?

When using Diatomaceous Earth in the garden, choose only the Premium Food Grade quality. Other types of Diatomaceous Earth powders are available online are usually cheaper but they are the ones used for swimming pool filters. This type of DE used for swimming pools go through a different process and contain a higher level of free silica that may be harmful to humans or pets exposed to it.

HOW TO USE DIATOMACEOUS EARTH

1. DRY METHOD - Dust a thin layer of diatomaceous earth over leaves and on the soil. Be careful not to dust on flowers because this may harm beneficial insects like bees. Repeat after 2 days until pests are controlled, then apply once a month for maintenance. Dust particles may cause an allergic reaction. Always use a protective mask.

2. WET METHOD - In a 500ml spray bottle, mix 1 tbsp of Diatomaceous Earth powder and then cover and shake thoroughly, until all particles are dissolved. Spray generously on plant leaves, stems and root area. After use, clean the spray bottle and spray head thoroughly. Do not allow DE particles to dry and clog the spray head and tubing.
