RAINBOW PON

Pon has seen increasing popularity among houseplant lovers in recent years.  It can be used as substrate – meaning, as a substitute to soil. It is composed of high quality stones (absolutely soil-free) that help avoid soil-borne pests and fungus, and allows balanced nutrient distribution. As a result, plants are less susceptible to root rot and other root diseases. Busy plant lovers find this substrate more favorable because it minimizes the need for regular watering.

How to repot your plant using pon substrates?

Step 1:  Remove your plant from the potting soil and remove as much soil from the roots as possible.

Rinse the roots with water so you get the cleanest roots possible.

STEP 2:  Pon substrates are best used with self-watering pots (Check out our self-watering pots). These self-watering pots usually include a string or cloth which allows water to be sucked into the pon substrate. The roots of the plants should not

touch the water directly. Refill the water as needed.

Another option, in the absence of self-watering pots, is to use ordinary pots. Pon substrate can be used in place of soil (Note: do not add soil or coco peat).  Water the plants when the pon looks try (typically at least once a week).  When watering, it is best to use a shower or running tap that flush the pon. Allow it to soak in a bucket that is half-filled with water for about an hour to ensure that the plants definitely get a chance to soak up and drink.

Pon can be used repeatedly.  Wash thoroughly in clean running water before re-using. Replace the nutrients with slow-release fertilizer every 6 months (Check out our C&S Slow Release Plant Nutrients - 1 teaspoon per liter).

CAUTION: Keep away from small children. Small particles can be accidentally swallowed.
