Blood Meal is a natural substance derived from the dried blood of slaughtered livestock animals, typically cattle and pigs. It is a nutrient-rich product that provides a wide range of benefits to plants and gardens. With its high nitrogen content, blood meal is a popular choice for gardeners looking to enhance nitrogen-deficient soil.

Our Blood Meal product is carefully processed to ensure maximum nutrient retention and effectiveness. It is a dark substance that can easily be incorporated into the soil or used as top dressing. It provides a long-lasting and environmentally- sustainable source of nutrients for your plants.

One of the key benefits of Blood Meal is its high nitrogen content. Nitrogen is essential for plant growth, as it plays a crucial role in the formation of proteins, enzymes, and chlorophyll. As such, Blood Meal promotes vigorous vegetative growth, leading to lush foliage, increased branching and overall plant vitality.

Blood Meal is a also an excellent soil conditioner. Its organic matter content improves soil structure, promotes microbial activity, and enhances moisture retention.  It helps loosen compacted soils, allowing for better root penetration and nutrient uptake.

Blood Meal is a sustainable and eco-friendly alternative to the use of chemical fertilizers in your garden. It is derived from animal by-products that would otherwise go to waste, making it a responsible use of resources. By using blood meal, you are not only nourishing your plants, but also contributing to a more sustainable eco- system.

How to use Blood Meal

For most potted plants, we recommend to limit to 3 tablespoons per 3-gallon plant pot.  Use as top-dressing around established plants, or mixed with potting media before planting. Repeat application after 8 weeks. Note that Blood Meal is high in organic nitrogen,  making it ideal for plants that require high levels of nitrogen. However, excessive nitrogen may cause leaf burns, overgrown foliage and other potential adverse effects on your plants. To avoid leaf burns in young plants or seedlings, mix blood meal with soilless potting mix (1 tbsp per gallon), or dilute in water, before applying on plants.

Keep unused Blood Meal in the resealable package.  Blood Meal emits a very strong odor which easily dissipates in air.  While Blood Meal has no expiry date, it is best to consume it within 2 years from purchase.
